Entering her second year as a 14s coach with Flintridge VBC, Coach Helen is excited for another action-packed season with her 2011 team. In addition to coaching club, prior coaching experience includes three high school seasons and two years with the United States Youth Volleyball League (USYVL). Many moons ago, she played four years at Woodbridge High School (Irvine, CA) and club volleyball with Orange County VBC and Newport Beach VBC.

Her work with youth also extends into the day with STAR Education, an after-school enrichment program that serves thousands of students in various public and private schools from Sacramento to San Diego. As the Department Head of Chess and LEGO, Helen oversees curriculum development, hiring and placement of instructors, site implementation, and marketing initiatives for both programs. Other roles at STAR include special events consultation and spearheading STAR’s new volleyball program.

Other endeavors include independent event production services and showcasing Chinatown as a docent for the Chinatown Business Improvement District. Hobbies include playing volleyball (surprise) and other sports, performing with her two bands, being a foodie, reading, crafts, and traveling when she has money left. Was eating mentioned already?

Helen graduated from the University of Southern California with a B.A. in Sociology and Minor in Psychology. She’s proud to be part of the Trojan family – Fight on!
